I spoke too soon

Disregarding my last post, I feel it incumbent to share this video of Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin on CNN calling those mean ol' McCain aides "jerks." As I'm sure y'all recall, in the final days of the presidential campaign there was a lot of name calling going on. McCain aides called our dear Miss Palin a "diva," said she was difficult to brief for her debates and interviews and revealed that she really is as dumb less intelligent than we all thought she was when it comes to geography and ya know, basic knowledge.

God bless her.

The last time I hope to ever devote a post to this woman

Ohhh, Sarah Palin. How I will not miss you. If you deign to show your face again in 2012, I may just have to resign my career in journalism. I do not want to write about this hockey mom, ever, EVER again.

So, as my last (let's hope) and final post on America's most famous lipstick-wearing, hockey mom, Alaskan beauty queen pitbull of a joke, I present this video for your enjoyment as we all bid adieu to Governor Sarah Palin:

Just for LOLs

Umm, yeah. This is hilarious. In what is simply another faux-pas in that long line of faux-pas for Sarah Palin, the governor participated in a phone interview with French president, Nicolas Sarkozy - or so she thought.

The people on the other end of the line were actually two Canadian comedians, called The Masked Avengers, who have a regular show on Montreal radio station CKOI. The interview took four days for their people to set up.

If you ever listen to anything, you've got to listen to this. We wonder if the McCain camp is sweatin' or has simply given up on their VP nom. What we can't believe is that the Sarkozy impersonator congratulating Palin on her life's documentary "Nailin' Palin" didn't raise any eyebrows. Errrr, really?

Your SNL update

It's that time again. Instead of your usual Tina Fey as Sarah Palin skits, I've included some of my other favorites from last night's episode of Saturday Night Live. Check 'em out.

John McCain as John McCain with the honorable Tina Fey as moose hunter and hockey mom extraordinaire Sarah Palin.

John McCain as John 'The Maverick' McCain in this Weekend Update skit. I have to agree with him. I think he should opt for the Double Maverick strategy.

The View parody. Ohhh, Elisabeth Hasselbeck. So sad to watch, so easy to mock.

Ben Affleck as Keith Olbermann. Were it not for his few smirks that got the best of him, this performance was top notch! I was falling off my chair, sir.

Palin on CNN

Republican vice presidential nom Sarah Palin appeared on CNN tonight where she sat down with Drew Griffin for her first interview on the network.

The Alaskan governor spoke on her plans for reform once in office, beamed at Griffin's suggestion that she has more executive experience than Sen. Obama, corrected some of the misconceptions about Tasergate, or Troopergate as it's been called, and suckered Griffin into her web of cuteness when asked if Sen. Biden had gotten a pass with his comment that there would be an international crisis if Barack Obama were elected president, to which Griffin looked like a smitten school boy. I've provided the videos below, or you can read the full transcript of the interview here

It's getting ugly

So, you know that negative campaigning Mac told us he would be no part of way back when? Well, things have taken a turn for the worse ever since his pitbull of a running mate, God bless her, began whining about the press and the media, for, you know, doing their jobs and all.

Gov. Palin told a crowd of 8,000 fans at a rally Monday afternoon that Barack Obama "launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist! This is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America," she told the Clearwater crowd. "I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country." The crowd replied with boos.

Anyhoo, when reporters first began to arrive to the Clearwater rally, they were greeted with shouts and taunts by a crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions (that "gotcha" media, 'member?) for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." The Washington Post reports that Palin supporters then turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

It doesn't end here, at the same event, Palin tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground.

"One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," she said to a crowd who yelled "Boooo!" She went on to say, "And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol." The crowd continued to yell "Boooo!"

"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.

Disturbed, yet? Horrified? Uhh, disgusted? No.. how about
repulsed? Well, I'm all of the above as well as shocked, though mostly due to Palin citing a newspaper, I wasn't aware she read those.

We're less than a month away, folks! Please, go register to vote if you haven't passed the deadline in your state.

Ifill: There was nothing I could do

Moderator of last week's vice presidential debate, Gwen Ifill had a little powwow with Tom Brokaw, David Gregory and Co. to discuss everyone's favorite hockey mom and her performance in last week's debate.

Ifill also defends her decision not to respond to right-wings lambasting her for writing a book that they believed was about Sen. Obama, but rather, is about the turn politics has taken in the last few years with particular regard to African Americans. Check it out below.

Brian Williams on the VP debate

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams sat down with David Letterman to discuss Gov. Palin and Sen. Biden's debate performance last Thursday night. The interview served as a nice reminder that there are some good journalists left out there, as well as your run-of-the-mill angry and bitter late-night TV hosts. Letterman, still hung up on John McCain standing him up, took every opportunity and more to bash the Alaskan governor and her maverick counterpart while Williams kept on his objective journalist hat.

"I can't correct you because I have no opinions," Williams said. Ahh, neutrality is so refreshing these days.

Palin finally answers Supreme Court question

With her bedfellows over at FOX News, of all places.

I, personally, have a few axes to grind from this latest interview with FOX.

Firstly, are you kidding me? Now that you've had time to go back and study, ya know, the United States' supreme court decisions (not something at all that I'd want a potential veep or prez to know off hand), you're willing to tell us about it on FOX and accuse Katie Couric and the rest of the media for being elitist and condescending? What do you want a gold star? Yes, it was a very comprehensive answer Carl, much like the kind of answer you'd see from an overburdened student given an extra couple days to go back and look up the answers to all of their wrong answers on an exam.

Also, I'd like to just stop once again and say, are you kidding me??? I mean, good job studying up on your Supreme Court decisions Sarah, but you believe states should impose the death penalty on repeat child rape offenders but the very own victims of those rapes you would not allow to abort their potential resulting babies?

This woman will never stop scaring me.

Palin releases tax records

The McCain-Palin camp released the hockey mom's tax returns, as well as her husband's, for 2006 and 2007.

In the past two years, the Alaskan governor and Todd Palin have donated $8,205 to charitable causes.

Palin: The media has been 'censoring' me

Oh, you wanna go there?

I found this amusing little nugget o' information in a HuffPost article this morning that is providing all the media's anticipation of tonight's debate. And in it, here my friends, is what we find:

Palin came out swinging during an appearance on Sean Hannity's (are we really surprised by this?) radio show on Wednesday:

Palin claimed she was eager for the debate since the media had been 'censoring' her: "Getting to speak directly to Americans without that filter of mainstream media trying to I think maybe censor some of my comments as we lay out those contrasts between these two different tickets."

She's joking. Is she? She must be. Right? I mean, what? The media, censoring, Palin? Um, no, that's not the way it's gone down Miss Maverick.

Last I checked, you and the McCain camp are the ones censoring YOURSELF from the media, not obliging to interviews until you feel comfortablenot letting the press do their job when you're meeting world leaders, protecting and cushioning you from all the evils of the big bad press. But, nowww... lemme get this straight... the PRESS is censoring YOU?

Oh Sarahhh, such a joker. She's a pitbull that one.

Palin popularity plummeting

According to the latest ABC News/Washington Post Poll, six in 10 voters see Repub VP nom Sarah Palin as lacking the experience to be an effective president, and a third are now less likely to vote for McCain because of her.

I applaud blame Tina Fey.

Couric-Palin interview: Part 3

Ummm, are you serious? Are you serious? Are you serious? Really??? I mean, c'mon, really???

You MUST watch the next part of the interview between CBS' Katie Couric and Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin. I mean, seriously? Just watch. Now. Please.

Really?

I love the pairing of Joe Biden's interview with Sarah Palin's. It diametrically shows what an answer is and what a long awkward silence is. Very informing. Loves it.

Really, people? Really???

Couric interviews Palin: The latest

Katie Couric of CBS interviewed Alaskan governor and Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin last night. I haven't had a chance to watch the interview yet, being that I'm currently in class, but I figured I might as well provide the vid for ya'll to watch. Don't worry, I'll provide my highly solicited input* later.

*Note sarcasm.

Update: So while watching the interview, I found it hard to not just break out in laughter every once in a while. I feel that Gov. Palin would elicit so much more respect if she would just answer a question, specifically, the FIRST time she is asked. She rambles on, sort of defensively and nonsensically, and is prone to try and preface her answers with long, rambling anecdotes and vague philosophies, only to subsequently provide no actual answer to the question. I mean, people like to think of this woman as some kind of spitfire, but her only specialty seems to be providing digs to the other party that McCain has never had the hutzpah to. She can't hold her own, in my own opinion, and I fully expect people to contest that opinion, but I would like to see her logically answer a question, the first time, and provide something substantive, rather than this bullshit "I have a gay best friend" nonsense. Thursday's debate shall be interesting to say the least.

Biden and Palin: Debating styles

The New York Times has just done two interesting pieces on the differences in Sen. Joseph Biden's debating style and Gov. Sarah Palin's debating style. The articles primarily highlight Gov. Palin's vague, nonsensical answers and Sen. Biden's aggressive, loquacious style of debating. It warns of the possibility of him coming off as condescending toward Gov. Palin, especially when her gender plays a prominent role in this campaign. This is the last thing the Obama camp needs, particularly because Sen. John McCain was accused by many of being condescending towards the less-experienced Sen. Barack Obama in last Friday's debate, and they really don't want to come full circle on this one.

Are ya'll ready for tomorrow's debate? I have a feeling it will yield much criticism toward both tickets. In fact, I don't really care about the debate so much as the post-debate analysis.

Anyway, don't forget to tune in!

Vice Presidential Debate: Sen. Joseph Biden, Jr. vs. Gov. Sarah Palin
Thursday, Oct. 2 - 9 p.m. ET

Update: Here's the link to the video slide The New York Times has put together on the two contenders' debating styles, with Katharine Q. Seelyle providing her analysis.

Sarah Palin 2.0 on SNL

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler opened last night's episode of Saturday Night Live once again. This time, Tina played Palin to Poehler's Katie Couric in a skit that mocked Couric's interview with Palin earlier this week.

You must check this out, Tina is spot on once again and we all get a little giggle at how easy it is to duplicate Palin's vague and meaningless answers.

For your viewing enjoyment:
