Ifill: There was nothing I could do

Moderator of last week's vice presidential debate, Gwen Ifill had a little powwow with Tom Brokaw, David Gregory and Co. to discuss everyone's favorite hockey mom and her performance in last week's debate.

Ifill also defends her decision not to respond to right-wings lambasting her for writing a book that they believed was about Sen. Obama, but rather, is about the turn politics has taken in the last few years with particular regard to African Americans. Check it out below.

Brian Williams on the VP debate

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams sat down with David Letterman to discuss Gov. Palin and Sen. Biden's debate performance last Thursday night. The interview served as a nice reminder that there are some good journalists left out there, as well as your run-of-the-mill angry and bitter late-night TV hosts. Letterman, still hung up on John McCain standing him up, took every opportunity and more to bash the Alaskan governor and her maverick counterpart while Williams kept on his objective journalist hat.

"I can't correct you because I have no opinions," Williams said. Ahh, neutrality is so refreshing these days.

Biden and Palin: Debating styles

The New York Times has just done two interesting pieces on the differences in Sen. Joseph Biden's debating style and Gov. Sarah Palin's debating style. The articles primarily highlight Gov. Palin's vague, nonsensical answers and Sen. Biden's aggressive, loquacious style of debating. It warns of the possibility of him coming off as condescending toward Gov. Palin, especially when her gender plays a prominent role in this campaign. This is the last thing the Obama camp needs, particularly because Sen. John McCain was accused by many of being condescending towards the less-experienced Sen. Barack Obama in last Friday's debate, and they really don't want to come full circle on this one.

Are ya'll ready for tomorrow's debate? I have a feeling it will yield much criticism toward both tickets. In fact, I don't really care about the debate so much as the post-debate analysis.

And the winner is...

The Land of Lincolner himself, Barack Obama.

At least, that's what the latest USA Today/Gallup Poll is contending. The poll shows 46% of people who watched Friday night's presidential debate say Democrat Barack Obama did a better job than Republican John McCain; 34% said McCain did better.

Obama: McCain never mentioned middle class

As they are wont to do, presidential contenders are always of the belief that they won a presidential debate, even as the rest of Americans are ambivalent about said debate. The McCain camp believes it was Sen. McCain who won Friday's debate, and natch, the Obama camp believes it was Sen. Obama who won.

At an Obama-Biden rally happening today in Detroit, Obama slams his opponent for not reffering to the "middle class" in Friday's debate.

"The truth is, through ninety minutes of debating, John McCain had a lot to say about me, but he had nothing to say about you."

McCain and Obama in first debate: No big moments

Presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama appeared in tonight's first presidential debate at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. After a turbulent week of economic and political drama, viewers are left not knowing who really hit it out of the park at the debate.

It would appear that Sen. McCain started out soft and ended strong. It would also suffice it to say that Sen. Obama started out strong and ended intellectually strong, but lacking in actual expertise to draw from. This is natural given that the debate spent about the first 30 minutes parsing the recent economic crises of the nation on Wall Street as well as Main Street and the last hour debating foreign policy and national security, both of which McCain capitalizes on voters' confidence.

The contenders discussed Iraq in depth, but didn't exactly stipulate their plans for the bailout package currently on the table at Capitol Hill. Moderator, Jim Lehrer of PBS, had to repeatedly ask the senators to specify whether or not they are yea or nay for the rescue plan. Sen. Obama though, did enumerate his plans for what needed to be done with the bailout. This is really the area Sen. McCain needed to come out on top of, with his latest proclamations and his failed history of wooing voters with his economic comprehension.

My question is: What do ya'll think of tonight's debate? Who do you think came out on top? For me, it was pretty lackluster.
