Clinton recruits her supporters to back Obama

Former presidential contender Hillary Rodham Clinton is stepping up her efforts to swing her disaffected supporters over to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, her former rival.

In an outreach titled "Hillary Sent Me," the New York senator invited her supporters Friday to get involved directly in Obama's campaign and donate to it. She urged them to travel to a specific battleground state each weekend, beginning with New Hampshire on Sept. 27, when she will be campaigning for Obama in Michigan.

"Today I am asking all of you to stand up, hit the road and spread the word that we must elect Barack Obama president and we must send a filibuster-proof majority to Congress," Clinton told supporters in a conference call Friday. "This is a call to action. This is a must-do. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose."

Clinton has already campaigned for Obama in Ohio, Florida, Nevada and New Mexico and raised about $5 million for his campaign.

Palin to meet with Afghan President

Oh lordy.

According to the Washington Post this morning, the GOP veep candidate will meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai next week in New York as the UN General Assembly gets underway.

I was trying to understand why this was making me so nervous, and then I remembered. If "I can see Russia from my front porch" Palin actually wins the veep spot, there will be a lot more of these kinds of meetings. Oh vey.

Bush: "This is a big problem"

President Bush makes remarks outside the White House following a meeting with the Colombia President, defending the government's bailout of Wall Street.

"My first instinct wasn't to lay out a huge governmental plan. My first instinct was to let the market work. Until I realized when being briefed by the experts how significant the problem has become. So I decided to act and act boldly."

McCain gaffe

Presidential contender John McCain sounds like he needs some sleep, if you ask me. 

Sure, spanish is the common language over yonder in Spain, but that doesn't justify lumping them there folks and their leader José Zapatero together with the likes of Latin America's Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales. Check out his verbal diarrhea in the clip below:

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. For some reason, I feel that the name Zapatero just didn't connect with McCain's ancient gray matter. C'mon, who really knows who the leader of Spain is? I didn't, until I heard about this whole brouhaha that you just know the Obama camp is gonna latch onto and milk mercilessly.
